Privacy Policy
The short version. VersAIt has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics and no advertising. When you send a message, the app sends it straight from your device to the AI providers or servers you set up, using your API keys. We at Glass Overlay LLC never receive your conversations, your voice or your keys.
This policy covers the VersAIt app for iPhone and Mac ("VersAIt" or "the app"), made by Glass Overlay LLC ("we" or "us"), and the website at versait.ai.
1. What we collect
Nothing. VersAIt has no sign-in and no user accounts. It includes no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs, and it doesn't send us anything about you or how you use it. We don't sell, rent or share personal information, because we don't have any.
If you choose to share crash reports or diagnostics with app developers in your Apple device settings, Apple may pass anonymised crash data to us under Apple's terms. We use it only to fix bugs.
2. Your voice and speech recognition
- VersAIt uses the microphone only while it's listening. You can see this on screen, and in push-to-talk mode it listens only while you hold the button or hotkey.
- The app turns your speech into text with Apple's speech recognition. When your device supports it, recognition runs on the device. When it doesn't, the audio is processed by Apple's speech servers under Apple's privacy policy. The app tells you which applies in Settings › Privacy.
- Optional Whisper mode (Settings › Voice › Accurate transcription) transcribes your speech again with a Whisper model that runs entirely on your device. Turning it on downloads the model (about 140 MB) once from Hugging Face. That download is the only network request the feature makes.
- VersAIt doesn't upload or keep recordings of your voice. The AI providers receive only the text.
- Replies are read aloud by Apple's built-in text-to-speech voices on your device.
3. Messages you send to AI providers
When you send a message, VersAIt sends it straight from your device to each provider or server in the conversation. The request includes:
- your message;
- earlier messages in the same conversation, including other agents' replies in group modes, so the AI has context;
- a short instruction describing VersAIt and asking for brief, speakable replies. You can change or turn this off in Settings › Reply style;
- your API key or access token for that provider, which the provider uses to authenticate you.
On-device Apple Intelligence. If you add the Apple Intelligence backend, your messages are processed by Apple’s on-device model on your iPhone or Mac. Nothing is sent to Apple, to Glass Overlay LLC or to anyone else for those replies.
The built-in providers are Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini) and xAI (Grok). Each one processes your messages under its own terms and privacy policy, under the account that owns your API key. That includes whether and how long it keeps your messages and whether it uses them for training. We don't control those providers and they don't share your data with us. Please read their policies before you use them.
VersAIt asks first. Before the first message goes to any provider or custom server, VersAIt names it, explains what will be sent and links its privacy policy, and sends nothing unless you choose Allow and send. You can revoke an approval at any time in Settings › AI data sharing, and VersAIt will ask again before the next message.
4. Custom servers you add
You can add your own backends, meaning servers that speak the VersAIt Runtime Protocol (VRP1), such as a home assistant, a company agent or an agent running on your own computer. Those servers receive the same kind of information described above, plus the access token you gave the app for them. Whoever runs a server controls what it does with your data. Custom servers must use HTTPS.
If you pair a device by scanning a VersAIt pairing QR code, the code contains that server's address and access token. The app shows you what it will add and asks you to confirm first. Treat pairing codes like passwords.
5. API keys and tokens
Your API keys and tokens are stored in Apple's Keychain. They sync between your own devices signed in to the same Apple Account through iCloud Keychain, which Apple end-to-end encrypts. Once a key is saved, the app doesn't show it in full again. We never receive them.
6. Data stored on your device
- Chat log. Your conversations are saved in a file inside the app's storage on your device. You can export the log or clear it at any time from Settings › Chat log. On iPhone it lives in the app's own storage, is removed when you delete the app, and may be included in your iCloud or computer backups if backups are turned on. On Mac it lives in
~/Library/Application Support/VersAIt/. - Settings. Backend names, addresses, models, voices, themes, prices and other preferences are stored locally in the app's settings.
- Downloaded models. The optional Whisper model, if you download it, is stored in the app's storage on your device.
7. Cost information
The cost meter works out prices on your device from the token counts each provider returns and the price table in Settings. Nothing is sent to us.
8. This website
versait.ai is a static site served by Cloudflare. It uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and it has no forms. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. If you email us, we use your email only to reply.
9. Children
VersAIt isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. The AI providers you connect set their own minimum ages, and many require users to be at least 18 or to have a parent's permission.
10. Your choices
- You can turn off microphone and speech recognition access at any time in your device's Settings (iPhone) or System Settings › Privacy & Security (Mac).
- You can remove a backend and its key in the app, and clear the chat log. Remove backends before you delete the app, because Keychain items can outlive an app's deletion. You can also delete saved keys in the Passwords app or Keychain Access.
- To exercise privacy rights over data a provider holds, such as access or deletion, contact that provider. We hold none.
11. Changes
If we change how VersAIt handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change would mean collecting data, we'll say so clearly in the app before it takes effect.
